Amanda Abeyta was born and raised in the small village of Chimayo, New Mexico. She attended McCurdy High School, where she excelled in studies and sports. Her love of swimming later led to service as a lifeguard for many years.

Her interest in counseling was drawn from personal experience. Amanda personally felt the care, concern, and support of specialists who helped guide her through recovery after the Lord pulled her out of addiction. The experience ignited a passion in her to use her story and her talents to help others.

Amanda received an Associate’s Degree in Substance Abuse and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Science from Northern Community College. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She has worked with children, youth, and young adults for the past seven years. Amanda believes that healthy eating, exercise, and engaging in fun activities can be beneficial for stress relief and mental rejuvenation. Painting, craftwork, and other artistic activities are often utilized and appreciated by clients. Having had a strong bond with her elderly Grandmother and being a single parent to a beautiful 9-year-old son makes it easy for Amanda to relate to clients of all ages.

Amanda has translated the “lifeguard” mentality to her work as a Clinical Therapist. There are times for instruction and guidance, times to throw a preserver, and times of active rescue.
